Montessori Schools Primary Classrooms
For the young child a nurturing, child-centered
environment and a loving, trained adult create the
necessary components for successful development. Widely
acknowledged as perhaps the most critical years in a
child’s life, the years from 3-6 are when the child
literally "absorbs" the world.
Teachers bring the world into the classroom through
beautiful, orderly, reality-based materials that are
accessible for the young child's exploration. The
environment provides an integrated approach to cognitive
and social development. The emphasis is on developing good
work habits, concentration, organization, coordination and
independence. The child pursues learning at his or her own
pace, guided by the teacher. Children are led to activity
choices that are an appropriate level of challenge to
ensure success and continue the child’s natural love of
the learning process.
There are three Primary Classrooms—the Maple,
Magnolia and Juniper Room.
